Schedule of Events: Scheduled events will be held in Campsite #53 which is a walk-in area near the Yurts and the Boat Launch. Look for SSMC Signs.
All Weekend: Education: The local project of the North American Mycoflora Project will be ongoing throughout the weekend. A Mycoflora ID Table will be setup near-#53. Look for SSMC Signs. This is where your interesting mushrooms will be identified and prepared for the South Sound Mycoflora Project.
5:00pm-8:00pm Happy Hour: Bring your favorite drinks and appetizers to enjoy around the camp fire with your fellow campers and friends.
5:30-6:30pm Education: Learn how to clean and prepare your mushrooms. There will be a demo on how to clean and prepare lobster and chanterelle mushrooms for a lovely lobster stew. There will be hot apple cider and hot cocoa available to keep you warm during the presentation.
9:00am-2:00pm Forays: Meet at Campsite #53. Be ready to leave at 9:30am with a foray group. (Don't forget to bring your required orange vest, whistle, basket, timepiece (watch or phone), pocket knife, water, and a snack). Bring back interesting mushrooms for the Identification table in Campsite #53 for the group to admire. For those wanting to participate in and learn more about the Mycoflora project, there will be a separate Mycoflora foray, so you can learn how to properly collect and process your interesting fungal finds. Don’t expect to find any edibles on the Mycoflora foray.
6:00pm Potluck: Bring your favorite potluck dish to share with the group. Please label your dish with ingredients.
Sunday: 9/29 Forays are on your own today. Get together with new foray friends to find even more mushrooms.
10:00-11:00 Education: (look for SSMC signs) Review the various kinds of mushrooms that were found and discuss the methods used to ID them. Also learn to identify the native plants growing around the campground.
